This Insulated Koozie Cools White Claws And Mich Ultras

Michelob Ultra seems to be having a moment. And by that I mean that it has become my go-to beverage in the early goings of summer.

I’m not sure exactly how it happened. Growing up in central Pennsylvania, I was always a Yuengling guy. Then, when I lived in Boston, they didn’t have Yuengling, so I made do with the typical college fare of Keystone and Bud Light.

As my taste buds developed I gravitated toward Miller Lite, and yet now here I am, in June 2021, staunchly in the Michelob camp. It’s what I drank poolside at the beach last month. It’s what I got from the cart girl during my round of golf last weekend. It’s the beer currently stocking my mini-fridge near the back door.

How did this happen? I have a theory: White Claw changed the size of can I like.

I can’t say that hard seltzers are my absolute favorite, but like every other millennial worthy of the name I have put away many tall, thin cans of the bubbly malt beverage over the last two years. They go down so easily, especially the black cherry flavor, that they are particularly enjoyable on a hot and lazy summer day.

At this point, I associate White Claws not only with the freedom represented by the old saw that “there ain’t no laws when your drinking Claws” but also with the devil-may-care feeling of a day away from the office.

That feeling is so powerful that it colors other beverages that come in the same shape and size as White Claw, notably Michelob Ultra. There is a breeziness that comes with drinking a Mich Ultra that you never get when drinking out of a 12 oz. can of, say, Bud Light. Don’t believe me? Try it.

All this is to say that I understand why the #1 bestseller in Amazon’s “Kitchen & Dining” vertical right now is this insulated stainless steel koozie:

BrüMate Hopsulator Slim Double-Walled Stainless Steel Insulated Can Cooler for 12 Oz Slim Cans (Aqua) — $19.99

There have long been similar devices for cooling regular size beer cans as well as tall boys, but this is a breakthrough when it comes to seltzers like White Claws and Truly’s. Plus, of course, Michelob Ultra. BrüMate even notes this in its marketing copy:

As you can see, it also fits Red Bull cans, for you lunatics out there who are in the habit of sipping your energy drinks.

The BrüMate Hopsulator promises to keep your beverage “20x colder” than competing products, which I can only suppose means cold for 20 times longer—it cannot make it colder than the actual temperature it started it.

The Hopsulator is available in over two dozen colors, so you can keep your seltzer or skinny beer cold in style. Enjoy!
