I have two words for you: Father’s Day.

For generations, the go-to Father’s Day gift was always a tie. In America’s cultural past, the figure of the father was heavily associated with providing for his family, that is, his work. To do his work, he would go into an office five days a week. For each one of those days he would need a different tie to wear.

Every aspect of that formulation is now outdated. Associating fathers primarily with work (or even with a family unit at all) is considered sexist. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, few people currently go into an office five days a week. When they do, unless they are a lawyer or have some other vestigial occupation from another age, they almost certainly do not have to wear a tie.

While some men may relish the distinctly postmodern ability to put in an honest day’s work in a T-shirt, the new normal made things more difficult for sons and daughters when shopping for Father’s Day each June.

Enter the wallet. Wallets make for great Father’s Day gifts. Mobile payments have not yet taken over in this country as they have in Asia, so a dad still must carry a wallet everywhere he goes. Wallets succumb to normal wear and tear and aren’t too expensive, so most fathers would appreciate getting a new one each year.

What makes the TRAVANDO wallet better than the myriad other wallets on Amazon? To start, there is no denying it is stylish. It is thin and minimalistic while still having enough pockets (11) to make it extremely functional. Instead of a big pocket across the top for stuffing bills in, it features an interior money clip, nowadays a necessity for a certain brand of fashion-forward Boomer.

Unlike many wallets that claim to protect you from ID thieves, the TRAVANDO wallet listing includes actual information on the level of protection you get, specifically: “13.56 MHz band and protect against data theft by RFID scanners. Details like that let you know that whoever wrote the listing is not full of hot air.

To top it all off, the TRAVANDO wallet arrives in a nice little gift box, reducing the amount of effort that a child has to turning it into a Father’s Day present:
