This Trap Is Better Than A Fly Swatter For Killing Bugs

As I told readers yesterday, I spent my Fourth of July at a friend’s house in New Jersey. During my time there, I familiarized myself with several products that—since I am not a homeowner—never crossed my radar. One of these is an indoor fly trap.

I can’t even begin to count how many times in my life I have fruitlessly pursued a buzzing pest with a fly swatter or rolled up newspaper. I do not think I ever successfully killed a bug with one of those things, yet I was never presented with a better option. Then I saw the contraption my friend and his wife use to keep their home insect-free:

What a great idea. As everyone who has had to deal with bugs knows, the little devils are highly attracted to the light. The Katchy indoor fly trap capitalizes on that by producing ultraviolet light that appeals to insects even more than the regular lightbulbs in your house. As soon as the flying menaces get near the light, they get sucked up by a spinning fan then trapped on a sticky glue-like panel. Stuck there with no way to escape, the insects die. They are so utterly doomed, they don’t even have the opportunity to go tell their friends and family to avoid the UV light. If you have a vendetta against the annoying critters, you couldn’t ask for a better solution.

For those whose households are perpetually plagued with pests, this device will be a real life-changer. If you go through all the sticky boards that come with it, you can easily buy replacement ones as well.
