Today’s product spotlight is a companion piece of sorts to an article we posted earlier in the week. In that post, we introduced our readers to a vertical dish drying rack that stands above your sink and creates more counter space. We continue to have organization around the kitchen sink in mind as we recommend another product: a sponge soap dispenser.
The sponge soap dispenser has several purposes. According to its product description, its biggest draw is that it can hold dish soap for you, so that you don’t have to keep big, unsightly bottles on your countertop. See how it ties back to the dish rack organizer?
In my opinion, the true utility of this little sponge dish comes from its second selling point. Whenever you are washing dishes or cleaning the area in and around your kitchen sink, you need to squirt soap on the target area before you can scrub it with the sponge. Unless you are a robot, there is no real way to do this with any measure of consistency—you often end up with either too much or too little soap. This tiny soap bucket takes care of that for you. Simply press down on it with the sponge, and it immediately douses the sponge with the perfect amount of soap. Unlike haphazardly squeezing soap and then applying a sponge, this easy step can all be done with one hand.
When you squeeze soap directly out of the bottle, soap also ends up accumulating on the sides and bottom of the bottle. If you let the bottle sit on your countertop, this sticky stuff builds up. In effect, something designed to clean up messes ends up making one of its own. This plastic soap container eliminates that problem, too. With this, cleaning up is not only less of an effort, but it is actually cleaner as well.
